The House of Eve

Description

The silver Suburban SUV slowly drove it's way through Eden Island's classy mansions and posh highrises before arriving at it's destination, the gates of Halo Hills. One of the most exclusive (and expensive) gated communities on Eden Island, it catered to movie stars, singers, and all sorts who liked their privacy. In a effort to accommodate these wealthy (and demanding) individuals, Halo Hills contracts out to Stronghold Securities to deal with securing it's borders.

Luckily, the two blonde women in the SUV were expected when they were stopped at the security gate and asked for their IDs and business within the community. They were given instructions to the house they were looking for, and wished a good day by the guard, a rather large man in his late 30's. They pulled through the gate and were on their way before Terry turned to Carol and said, "Your friend sure likes her privacy! A gated community? Really?! And that guy back there was ex-military. I could practically smell it on him."

Carol glanced at Terry with a smirk, "Got a problem with ex-military?"

Terry rolled her eyes and looked out the window at the community full of huge houses, some of which even had the white picket fences out front. It all seemed perfect. Almost too perfect in some weird way. "No. You know better than that. It's just that usually people that sequester themselves in places like this have something to hide. Usually it's people like us that go busting in on them when they are hiding it. Yet, here we are, driving up to this person's house. It...just boggles the mind sometimes how thin the line is between a friend and an enemy."

Carol laughed, "Eve wouldn't become an enemy or some kind of villain. She's too...nice." She looked over at Terry as they pulled into the driveway of a large mansion at the end of a caul de sac, the grounds were immaculate, and the house almost stank of money, "That, and she loves what she does. Why become a villain when you are a happy person? It's the unhappy people that almost always become criminal masterminds bent on world domination." Carol shrugged, "Trust me, when you meet her, you'll understand."

Carol parked the car in the circular driveway and got out with Terry following close behind. They walked up to the front door and rang the doorbell. Without preamble or warning the door was thrown open, a shorter woman with rectangular glasses, and sandy blonde hair cut in a layered style to her jawline flew out the opening and grabbed hold of Carol's waist in a vice-like grip, with a twinkle in her dark brown eyes, "Daaahhhllliiinnnggg!!!" Eve squee'd.

Terry's eyes got wide and a smile broke out across her face, which she promptly covered with a (hopefully) casual looking hand. After several moments of Eve and Carol hugging they broke the hug with a giggle and broad smiles, turning to look at Terry.

"Hi there I'm, OOF!" was all the Amazonian woman got out before she was practically tackled by the smaller Eve. Blushing, Terry tried again, "Um..Hi? I'm Terry."

Eve looked up from Terry's chest with a big smile on her face,"Of course you are dear. Who else would you be? I am Eve, but I'm sure you knew that." She let Terry go and backed away looking her up and down as if appraising her, the smile fading slightly as she began to pace around the larger woman, "Well Carol, my dear, what have you brought me today?"

Carol stepped forward to put a hand on Eve's shoulder as she finished her orbit around Terry, "Well, we're here for your...special touch on Terry's...lingerie."

Eve looked over her shoulder to look at Carol with a questioning look, one eyebrow arched higher than the other, "Ah, then you'd best come inside dahling, no need for the neighbors to get an eyeful." motioning them both through the door and leading the way, they walked into a magnificent world of wood, glass and light. "Welcome to my home." Eve said with a hint of pride, "Now show me the hobo suit."

Terry looked at Carol with an expression somewhere between confusion, anger, and horror, before Carol put a calming hand on her arm. "Go ahead,Terry, it's alright. We're all friends here." Terry nodded and opened her bag, pulling out her super suit, gloves, and boots in a bundle. She handed them to Eve who immediately began to feel the fabric and look over the design.

"Hmmm...not bad, for something 5 years ago, but as I said before, it's a hobo suit dear. It does nothing for you." Eve finished with the bundle throwing it onto a nearby chair. "But you are here with something more, yes? You have an idea of what you want? Unlike these skinny fashion models that I design clothes for, you two have bodies of goddesses...of warriors! You DESERVE to have clothing made to fit you properly, and convey your image right!"

Terry was taken aback by the passion of the woman's statement, looking at her, blinking in mute silence. Carol was smiling looking between the two before going ahead and talking for Terry, "Well Eve, I think you've definitely made an impression on Terry. Why don't you tell us about ideas that YOU would have for her suit." Carol smiled at Terry, then back to Eve.

Eve grinned like a Cheshire Cat, "Of course dear! Why didn't you say so to begin with?!" She guided the two women to a bookcase where she revealed a hidden control panel and went through a series of security measures before a door opened to an elevator. Motioning them inside, Eve put in another code and they were swiftly taken what felt to be down, before the doors opened up into an impressive-looking lab. "Come in! Come in! Make yourselves at home! There will be coffee in three minutes, and doughnuts in five. They are a luxury for me, dears, I know, but I don't suppose it will be a problem for either of you, what with your hyperdeveloped physiques and all."

A plush couch and chairs slid from within one of the walls nearby as Eve picked up a tablet and began drawing ideas down. "The problem with your hobo suit was that it did nothing for your image dear. No identifying mark, no real color change, it was a mess dear, really. What you need is something classic, something that says, 'I'm here to save the day, and you should take me seriously', something that shouts out who you are to villains and makes them cringe when you come into sight!" Eve was grinning from ear to ear as she furiously drew on her tablet.

"Now! Get in here!" she began pushing Terry, who was in a bit of a daze at all that was going on, while Carol was suppressing peals of laughter. Eve simply pushed the larger woman until she complied and walked/stumbled over to what appeared to be some kind of large pod. "Now strip!" the authoritarian little woman commanded.

That snapped Terry out of her stupor, "Now hold on just a second there missy! No one said anything about a strip show!" Terry's brows knit together, and it was obvious that things had taken a turn for the worse in her mind. Carol got up with a placating hand, but Eve motioned for her to sit.

The smaller woman looked up at Terry with her dark brown eyes, and arched a single eyebrow, "How do you expect me to fit a skin tight uniform to you without you first removing your clothes, hmmm? I wouldn't have thought it would be such an issue for someone that posed nude on the cover of a coffe table edition of Vogue." Terry's eyes bugged out for a moment before Eve continued, "Yes, dear, I knew the moment I saw you. Your physique is...unique, and many would give their right arms to have it. So what will it be? It's just us girls you know."

Terry sighed and undressed, standing in the pod that Eve wanted her to as lights suddenly turned on circling all about her. Eve sat down at a desk and a holographic representation of Terry popped up in front of her. She sat her tablet down, and made a gesture from the tablet to the hologram, and the drawing she had been working on sprang to life in 3D on the hologram. "Hmmm..." Eve said as she studied the dimensions running her fingers over the hologram, making changes here and there, then adding color.

"Um...Eve?" Terry asked pondering what she should be doing now that the high tech scanner's lights had gone off. Eve didn't even glance up, "What are you doing there still in the buff dear? Put your clothes back on. You'll make me blush." Terry got a sour look on her face, but gathered up her clothes and began to get dressed as Carol began laughing. Terry shot her a look, "What's so funny?" Carol replied with a smiling, "You are. This whole thing has your nerves shot. You need to relax. Here, have a doughnut." Carol offered Terry one of the tastey treats as she finished dressing and sat down beside her.

The suit was coming along nicely in the hologram, and Terry was impressed with Eve's speed and skill. Terry looked to Carol and asked, "So how do you know Eve?" Carol smiled and looked back to Terry with a wink, "Well, I work in prosthetics. I'd been hired on to consult for a movie, and Eve was the designer..."

"LEAD designer, dear." Eve interrupted.

"Lead designer" Carol corrected, "for the movie. We got to know each other, and one day I had to fly off the set to save the day. Old eagle eyes there managed to see me, but kept it to herself until she talked to me. She's the one who helped me develop my more modern day looking costume." Carol smiled over at Eve.

"Not that it needed much, dear, the classics never die, as they say." Eve again put in as she appeared to smoosh the hologram down and put it into a white box on the desk. "Well, the hard part is done, now we wait for it to be made."

Terry blinked, "Made? Who is going to make it? What about security?!" Eve held up another hand and looked at Carol, "Quite a pistol isn't she? Does she always go off half-cocked?" Carol looked to Terry who had a questioning look on her face, "It's something we'll work on." and winked at Eve.

Eve looked at Terry as if addressing a child, "The suit is being made here, dear, by machines, to my specifications. Security is not an issue. It's all automated." She smiled brightly before getting up to get some coffee and a doughnut. Terry turned to Carol and said, "Doesn't this all seem familiar somehow? Kind of like that lady in that animated movie, Edn..."

"SHHHHH!!!" Carol shushed Terry and cut her off before she could say more. "Eve HATES that movie. She says that the producers HAD to have been mocking her when they created the character." Carol nodded solemnly and the room fell into silence as Eve sat back down with her coffee and doughnut. Eve looked at the two women and sighed, "What? I know it will go straight to my hips, but I can't help it, they're yummy!" Carol and Terry had deadpan expressions for a few moments before bursting out laughing at the comment. Eve even joined in and before long they were all talking about various adventures in crime fighting and fashion designing.

After a while a panel lit up, and Eve declared that Terry's suit was ready. "Okay dear, time for you to see." She hit a button on her seat and the chairs and couch turned around to face a wall that was rapidly moving into the floor, leaving a plexiglass wall. From out of the floor behind this new see-through wall arose a metal dressmakers dummy with a super hero suit on it that appeared to be fitted to Terry's proportions.

Terry's eyes widened and a slack-jawed smiled formed on her lips. Eve began to explain, "I decided to go with a hexagonal pattern for the suit so that it can withstand more kinetic damage from further around, and it is made from a nano-weave fabric that is a thousand times harder than steel." As if to make her point machine guns popped out and began firing at the suit-clad dummy. "Completely bullet proof, it is practically indestructible by normal means." This being said as an RPG is launched at it and explodes the dummy, but not the costume-clad parts. "Machine washable, it comes with a built in communications system, and GPS tracker." Eve turned to look at Terry's stunned face, which she got up and slapped a bit to bring her around. "Well dear? Is this what you wanted?"

Terry turned to look at the little woman and suddenly wrapped her in a big hug to which Eve let out a startled, "EEP!" Terry giggled and put her back down saying, "Sorry Eve, it's just so amazing that I had to give you a hug!" Eve had a bright smile and didn't seem to mind the hug at all, "Would you like to try it on, my dear?"

Terry nodded like a kid at Christmas, and soon was in her new super suit, complete with new mask, gloves and boots. Eve explained them to her, "The gloves and boots are made of the nano-weave material as well, but with extra coating on the striking surfaces so that they can withstand the force of truly tremendous blows without being shredded. They also have a nice different texture to make them look nice." she winked at Terry.

The whole suit was mainly white with a red chevron across the chest with gold trim along the sides. In the center of the chest was a gold atomic symbol. Quantum was a kind of atomic measurement in physics, Eve was good. REAL good. The thigh-high boots, mask, and forearm length gloves were red like the chevron and felt like a soft suede leather, soft against her skin. The suit itself she could barely feel it fit her so perfectly, and it expanded with her when she moved.

Carol stood back watching the whole thing analyzing more than just Terry flexing her muscles in the new outfit. "Damn, she's tall! I'd have to grow four inches and put on bulk to match her size!" Carol thought to herself pondering in an offhanded way how she could imitate the quantum powered heroine. It was sort of a passive skill of hers, as a "mistress of disguise" keeping her eyes open, always looking for body language, mannerisms, tells, and quirks about the people around her and was something that came naturally...till Terry turned to look at her in the new suit, "Well, what do you think?" Terry asked. Carol put a hand to her mouth as if thinking for a moment, then laughed and exclaimed, "It looks great! You should go try it out!"

Looking to Eve who gave a nod of blessing the three headed for the elevator and went back upstairs. Eve opened up a double door that lead to her back yard and the newly-clad Lady Quantum stepped out onto the patio. She turned to look back at the two of them, "I'm just going to take a quick flight around the island, won't take long." She winked at them then hovered up into the air and with a sudden rush of air, was gone.

Eve looked at Carol, "Definately a pistol. You've got a lot to teach that one." Carol nodded, "I know, but she kind of reminds me of myself when I started out. Young, optimistic, looking at everything as black and white instead of shades of gray. Back then, you knew who the bad guys were. Now days, it's harder to define, but she doesn't seem to have any trouble with it. It's still black and white to her, and...I like that about her."

Eve patted Carol's arm, "It will probably get her into trouble at some point."

Carol nodded, "I know, but for now lets just enjoy the moment, and let her do the same."

Lady Quantum soared over Eden Island in her new costume, part of a place called Angel Falls.

Her home.
